A breathtaking near-future thriller. From the NY Times bestselling author whose books have been downloaded over a million times.
When Nick Hall wakes up in a dumpster--bloodied, without a memory, and hearing voices in his head--he knows things are bad. But they're about to get far worse. Because he's being hunted by a team of assassins. Soon Hall discovers that advanced electronics have been implanted in his brain, and he now has two astonishing abilities. He can surf the web using thoughts alone. And he can read minds. But who inserted the implants? And why? And why is someone so desperate to kill him?
As Hall races to find answers, he comes to learn that far more is at stake than just his life. Because his actions can either catapult civilization to new heights--or bring about its total collapse.
Based on actual research on thought-controlled web surfing, Mind's Eye is a smart, roller-coaster ride of a thriller. One that raises a number of intriguing, and sometimes chilling, possibilities about a future that is just around the corner.

Mind Eye Nick Hall Book 1 eBook Douglas E Richards
I read this book the first time back in March 2014 but when the next book came out, "BrainWeb" I had to go back and re-read "Mind's Eye" so that I could refresh my memory before moving onto the next book. I am glad I did because I enjoyed Mine's Eye just as much the second time around as I did the first time I read it. This author is brilliant in his writing. He makes everything come together in such a way it makes a lot of sense. I also loved all the main characters of the story, and not just Nick, who was the main focus of the story. I have always been interested in ESP so this story really got my attention. I was entertained and interested from start to finish of this book. I spent every spare moment reading this story--even to the point of falling asleep sitting up in bed every night reading this story with my Kindle in my hands. I just did not want to quit reading it--it kept me turning pages as long as I could stay awake. I just finished the second book and will also review that one. I didn't think the second book could rival the first one, but it was just as good.If Mr. Richards writes any more books about these characters, I will certainly buy them--and I don't buy many books because there are so many free ones. Mr. Richards made a believer out of me and I will be looking forward to read more books by him.
OBTW, both books, Mine's Eye and BrainWeb can be read as a stand alone story--they both have a satisfying conclusion. This alone makes me have the highest respect for Mr. Richards.

Mind Eye Nick Hall Book 1 eBook Douglas E Richards Reviews
The most intelligent book I've read in quite a while. Mr Richards imagines that a brain implant has been engineered, to allow the mind to surf the net directly without need for an external computer, and he explores the implications through this exciting story in great depth. The Bad Guys encourage spread of the use of the device, anticipating that they will be able to reverse the flow (direct the brain, instead of letting the brain direct the net) and so dominate the world. Scary, and not very incredible.
Surprisingly, the author does not point out a rather obvious parallel that precisely that kind of reversal has already taken place, via the external computers which we're familiar. The government's NSA already spies on the contents of our PCs on a massive scale; I understand Windows 10 was deliberately designed with a "back door" for that purpose, by Microsoft under pressure from the Feds. That's on top of the huge program of gathering from Google, Facebook et al of data we have ourselves volunteered to those services. Already, government is using them to police what we can and cannot see - even here, in the land of Free Speech. In China, spying and control is far worse and has been going on for decades.
There's a second implant, providing the subject with even more startling abilities, which I find rather less credible, but with even heavier implications - which are, again, meticulously explored. Read Mind's Eye; you'll long remember it.
It doesn’t take being much of a news junkie to be aware of all the scientific breakthroughs that seemed improbable even a decade ago. Douglas Richards has done a really nice job of creating an interesting plot centering upon a major bio-technical achievement.
The book is action driven but the characters are well presented even if not deeply detailed. However, the author does a good job of making Nick Hall and several of his compatriots very likable characters. It is easy for a reader to be drawn into the suspense and mystery and actually care about their fate.
There are enough twists and turns to keep mystery fans interested as well as a couple of relationships sure to appeal to fans of romantic suspense. However, this book will best be appreciated by techno-thriller fan who enjoy scenarios that have a scientific basis.
Although this is labeled as Book 1 of the Nick Hall series, it is a good standalone novel.
A fun read from a great author! This novel is the perfect setup for a series of books. The adventures of Nick Hall should prove to be fun and exciting and I personally am looking forward to reading them.
There was a part of the book that I wanted to quote because it spoke to me so deeply, "you worship the false god of technology. But what has technology led to? Weapons of mass destruction. Addiction. The loss of human connection. Man is moving too fast. He has no time to revel in the world Allah has created. To pray. To contemplate. Instead, he is moving ever-faster on an ever-shortening treadmill. Your attention span is gone. No matter how much technology you have, all you crave is the next advance. The next toy. Your lives have become hollow, superficial, meaningless, and unfulfilling.”
Now while this little speech came from the mind of an evil psycopath, it struck a chord with me. Especially when I see young kids so ardently devoted to their gadgets. So, it gives us something to think about, doesn't it?
Looking forward to the next in the series!
